Share matters of common concern and make representations to municipal authorities for traffic, crime, parking, garbage, lighting and snow removal problems.
Participate in social events: St. Patrick’s Day Brunch, Christmas Party and Charity Collection, Harvest Fest Potluck, Summer Social, Annual meetings.
Promote the beautification of the Village: Awards are given to neighbors who beautify their homes and gardens. Parc Shaughnessy, on the corner of Fort and Tupper, is an SVA initiative. Residents are encouraged to adopt and take care of trees planted by the City and plant flowers in the tree bases. In recent years, the Village has also participated in the winter “Magic Lights” contest, organized by the City of Montreal.
Maintain a clean environment: SVA members participate in an annual Earth Day clean-up followed by a backyard barbecue.
Learn the History and culture of the Village: SVA, has completed a study on the historical development of the area and the architectural characteristics of its older buildings.
SVA seeks to achieve its objectives and promote its activities through its newsletter; regular e-mail updates from the President; and at the Annual General Meeting in October when the Board is elected. The monthly meetings of the Board are open to SVA members to discuss matters of concern and make suggestions about SVA activities.
