Here's a report from André Laurendeau who represented the SVA at the last meeting of the Comite aviseur des partenaires at Station 12.
Yesterday, I attended the CAPS meeting at Station 12. Constable Sylvain Huot chaired the meeting in absence of Commandant Lalonde.
Any problems with respect to circulation should be addressed to constable Steven Goldberg at 280-0112.
As of February 2004, we now have a private detective at Station 12 Mr. Stéfan Bisson for all types of crimes with the exception of drug related crimes or activities. His phone number is 280-0912.
With respect to drug related crimes or activities, these should be immediately reported by phoning 911 or if it's too late by phoning 280-2222. It is important to specify that it is a drug related activity. All of these activities are entered into a central computer where central planning to fight drug related crimes are undertaken. To get the fastest possible response on an illicit drug transaction call 911.
We will be able to get the most attention to fight drug crimes in Shaughnessy Village by reporting every drug related event that happens in our community. As constable Huot stated; It is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.
Graffitti activities in progress should be reported by phoning 911.
With respect to Cabot Square, it is largely a problem related to the Inuits and the Police is working with CLSC des Faubourgs and Chez Doris in order to redirect these poeple away from the park. Also, there will be increased foot patrols and cadet bicycle patrols in the area.
So now that we have clear instructions from PDQ 12 on how to fight drug related crimes in Shaughnessy Village, let us report every incident; i.e. description of vehicles, plate numbers, time and place of the incident etc.. One important factor; tinted car windows. Heavily tinted car windows are illegal, so should you see them in the village, please report them to the police. Drug dealers seem to prefer these types of windows.
